GRAPHMANTIX e360° · SAP AI OPPORTUNITY ROADMAP

Where AI pays off in SAP®: a roadmap built from measured data

Every SAP customer is asking where AI will deliver value. Most answers start from the technology. This approach starts from your own system: what it runs, how each process performs, and where an AI agent is actually the right tool.

Ranked SAP AI roadmap: process gaps with approach, value at stake and wave, for an illustrative customer
Ranking shown for an illustrative customer.

Why most AI plans for SAP stall

1

They start from the technology.

A catalog of agents or a workshop wish list is hard to scope and harder to defend to a CFO.

2

They aren't measured.

Without process KPIs, nobody can say which gap is worth closing first, or prove it was closed.

3

They assume every problem needs an agent.

Many of the most valuable fixes are a rule, a data cleanup or a calculation.

How it works

Four steps, all driven by your system data

Four steps: knowledge graph, KPI measurement, AI opportunity model, value-ranked roadmap
Priority = value at stake × agent fit × platform readiness
The heuristics, stated up front

When an AI agent makes sense, and when it doesn't

The model uses stated rules to decide. They are visible to the customer, not buried in a black box.

Agent

Use an AI agent when the work has

  • Unstructured input: emails, PDFs, free text
  • An investigation path that changes case by case
  • Judgment within policy, with a person approving
  • Back-and-forth with suppliers, customers or colleagues
  • A high volume of small exceptions
Automation

Use deterministic automation when

  • The decision is a rule
  • The root cause is a one-time master data or configuration fix
  • The fix is a statistical calculation
  • The action must be auditable and repeatable: payments, postings, tax
What the roadmap looks like

A roadmap you can act on

Sample roadmap grouped into waves, showing approach, KPI gap and value levers: cost, revenue, working capital, risk

Sample output for an illustrative ECC customer. A real roadmap is generated from the customer's own measured KPIs.

High value does not always mean an agent. In the sample, MRP parameter drift is worth fixing, but the fix is a statistical recalculation. It goes to automation, not the agent roadmap.

Each item shows the approach, the KPI gap behind it, and which value levers it moves: cost, revenue, working capital, and risk & control. Items are grouped into waves: Now, Next, Later, plus an automation track.

process gaps
8
process areas, from procure-to-pay to run & support
52
KPIs, 37 from published frameworks
60
task-scoped agent designs

Of the 32 gaps, 10 are strong agent candidates, 14 are hybrids, and 8 should stay deterministic.

Built on reference frameworks

Grounded in published process and KPI standards

Every process gap maps to the APQC Process Classification Framework and, where relevant, the SCOR Digital Standard. KPIs use APQC Open Standards Benchmarking measures and SCOR metrics, with SMRP, DAMA-DMBOK, COSO and ITIL where those apply. Benchmark values are licensed by their publishers and are not reproduced; customers enter their own targets.
